Nathan Michael Anderson, 38, of Commerce Township, Michigan, passed away on September 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of the many people whose lives he touched. Born on August 26, 1988, Nathan will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his lifelong passion for cars, racing, and bringing things back to life. Nathan was a mechanic at heart. He had an extraordinary ability to see the potential in a car and a determination to make it perform at its very best. Whether he was optimizing one of his race cars, diagnosing a problem, or taking on the challenge of bringing an old car back to life, Nathan approached every project with patience, devotion and curiosity.
His love of racing was more than a hobby, it was a way of life and a way of connecting with the people he loved. Nathan could often be found at Waterford Hills, at motocross events, or working on cars alongside his brothers and closest friends. He loved sharing that passion with his family and was always looking for the next opportunity to get everyone involved, whether through go-karting, R/C racing, or open track days at Waterford Hills. He didn't just want to enjoy racing himself; he wanted the people around him to experience the same excitement and joy that it brought him.
Nathan also took great pride in his work. He served as Technical Director at KIP America Inc. in Novi, Michigan, where he worked as a lead repair technician. His knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair complex printer issues made him a valued member of his profession. He was also a teacher and mentor, sharing his expertise with technicians across the country and helping others develop the skills and confidence to solve problems themselves.
But of all Nathan's accomplishments, none meant more to him than his family. He was a devoted husband to his adoring wife, Sari, and a loving and proud father to his son, Jack – his most impressive accomplishment and one of the greatest sources of joy in his life. Nathan's love for them was evident in everything he did. He worked hard, dreamed big, and gave his time and energy freely to the people who mattered most.
Nathan will be remembered for his passion, his dedication, his willingness to help, and his ability to share what he knew with those around him. He had a way of making his interests into shared experiences and his friendships into family. His absence will be deeply felt by the many loved ones and close friends he cherished above all else.
Nathan is survived by his beloved wife, Sari Anderson; his son, Jack Anderson; his parents, Cara and Steven Schafer; his siblings, Aaron Schafer, Spencer Schafer, Marni Schafer, and Aiden Schafer; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rune and Wakako Noguchi; his niece, Alice Noguchi; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Yuko and Pedro Delacruz; his grandfather, Fred Speier; his grandmother, Dianna Speier; his uncle, Doug Jakubiec; and his uncle, Adam Speier.
He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Carol and Frank Westburg; Marilyn and Herb Racklin; and his aunt, Carole Speier.
Nathan leaves behind a lifetime of memories in the people he loved, the friendships he built, the cars he brought back to life, and the passion for racing he so freely shared with others. His greatest legacy, however, will live on through Sari and Jack and through every person who was fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
