In 1975, Eelia married Michael Cohan, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion, humor, and mutual respect. Together they built a life filled with warmth and resilience, supporting one another through every chapter that followed.
As a young adult, Eelia made her home in Detroit, Michigan, where she and Michael established deep community ties and created a nurturing environment for their growing family. In 1991, they moved to Wellington, Florida, embracing a new chapter filled with sunshine, opportunity, and the joy of raising their children in a place that quickly became home.
Her greatest joy was being a mother to Johanna Cohan and Frederick Cohan. She poured her heart into raising them, guiding them with patience, humor, and a fierce devotion that touched every part of their lives. Her children were her pride, her purpose, and her constant source of happiness.
Eelia's joy only deepened as her family grew. In 2008, her son Frederick married Robyn Cohan, and together they welcomed a son, Andrew, in 2017. Becoming a grandmother brought Eelia immeasurable happiness-Andrew was a bright new light in her life, and she cherished every moment spent watching him grow.
She shared a deep and enduring partnership with Michael, whose steadfast support and affection were central to her life. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of love that shaped every day.
Eelia had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen and valued. Her friendships were deep and enduring, her home a place of welcome, and her presence a source of comfort to anyone fortunate enough to know her.
