Family Members:
Beloved husband of Sandra Walker. Father of Sarah and Ann, Father-in-Law to Rob Gilmore and Khai Davis. Doting grandfather to Oren Walker-Gilmore, Noah Walker-Gilmore, Teagen Davis, and Shay Davis. He will be missed by his sisters Nancy Brooks and Jean Bruce and his many nieces and nephews.

Bob lost his battle with lymphoma after a year-long bout that he handled the way he handled most things in life: thoughtfully, stubbornly, and with dry humor. Even during this difficult time, his inner strength shone through as he calmly faced each development, victory, and setback with characteristic perspective—and just enough sarcasm to bring much needed levity.

Bob grew up in a small Wisconsin town with two older sisters and a younger brother. During graduate school, where he pursued a PhD in Mathematics, he met the love of his life, Sandra, and together they raised two daughters who inherited both his intelligence and his ability to deliver a well-timed quip.

Bob spent nearly 40 years at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as a Systems Engineer and in Management, a career that took the family to Texas and eventually Michigan. At age 40, he left the country for the first time and then went on to visit 13 more countries. For someone who once stayed close to home, he began to travel to see history in context, going to Eastern and Western Europe and the Middle East.

Curiosity was Bob's lifelong hobby. One year it might be small engine repair, the next classical music, then coffee, whiskey, or thermodynamics. He was the only person who could fix your lawn mower, recommend a symphony, critique your coffee, and explain the laws of heat transfer in the same afternoon.

When his grandchildren were born, he became "Grampa Bob," their most enthusiastic playmate and fan. He was the first adult on the floor at every visit and their loudest supporter at plays, concerts, games, and school events. He often said he couldn't go more than two weeks without a "grandchild infusion," and he made sure everyone knew when he was due for one.

Bob's curiosity, sharp wit, big heart, and perfectly delivered sarcasm will be deeply missed by all who knew—and sparred lovingly with—him.
