Family Members:
Beloved wife of the late Stanley Freedman for more than 61 years. Dear mother of David (Ellyn) Freedman, Mark (Mary) Freedman and Jeffrey Freedman. Loving Bubie of Sydney (fiancé Spencer Brailov), Seth, Rachael (fiancé Matt Axner) and Lindsey Freedman. Devoted sister of Shelly (Michael) Gordon and the late Larry (Gladys) Rockind. Beloved sister-in-law of Barbara (the late Terry) Fields and Janie Slayden. Dearest daughter of the late Geraldine and Leo Rochkind, and daughter-in-law of the late Simeon and Charlotte Freedman. Also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Lisa Barak-Freedman, and many other loving family members and friends.

Marcia was deeply passionate about art and culture. She earned her BS and MFA from Wayne State University. She taught art in the Detroit Public Schools (mostly at Western High School) for decades, as well as the Center for Creative Studies, and was a mentor to many students who shared her passion. Marcia was awarded a 7-week residency in the prestigious Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency, Joshua Tree, California, where she lived and worked in a creative and immersive environment of natural beauty.

Marcia was known for her abstract painting, almost exclusively on canvas. She was featured in several solo exhibitions throughout her career, including shows at Rotunda Gallery at the University of Michigan, Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, the Pearl Monard Gallery at Ohio State University, Western Illinois University, Cary Gallery in Rochester, Michigan, Start Gallery in Birmingham, Michigan, Macomb Community College, Paint Creek Center for the Arts in Rochester, Michigan, Stedman Art Gallery, Rutgers Campus, Camden, New Jersey, Gwenda Jay Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio, A.I.R. Gallery, New York, and the Chicago Gallery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Marcia also participated in countless exhibitions throughout the country and was the recipient of many awards. Her work is part of the public and private collections of several institutions, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City, Michigan, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Ernst and Young in Detroit, and the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit.
