- Gerald (Jerry) Gilfix passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025 at the age of 98 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Barbara Gilfix for 67 years and the adored father to Jim Gilfix, Julie Gilfix (Keith Dlugokinski) and Matt (Tamar) Gilfix. He was the proud grandfather of Erin, Neal, Hana Rose, Naomi, Yadidda, Bruyra, Reuven, Shira, Avi, Pazi & Schmuel and great-grandfather to Talon, Elen Shay, Tahel, Noam, Meital, Netanel, Shilat, Hillel, Ariel, Michael, Hadar, Tamar, Ray, Rax, Melody, Miel Zohar Gina and Kimberly.
Jerry was born in Winnipeg, Canada to James & Molly Gilfix, and with his sister Evelyn they moved to Detroit when Jerry was 5, but visited Montreal frequently. Jerry attended Central High School in Detroit. After High School, he proudly served our country in the Air Force in 1945-1946. Afterward he became a pharmacist and later would open Gilfix Drugs, where he happily served the Detroit neighborhood for many years as a favorite with many customers. Jerry enjoyed playing tennis and gardening and being with family and friends and traveling. In his later years, Jerry ran a senior social group, after being in a caregivers support group. Jerry was loving, kind, funny and adored by those that knew him. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and colleagues.
