- Nancy Silver Shalit died on October 12, 2024 after a long illness. Dear mother of Laurie M. Ross (Mark Watt) and the late Robert E. Ross, Nancy was born in New Jersey to the late Edward and Thelma (Indictor) Silver. She lived in Detroit most of her adult life, where she raised her family. She was married to her beloved Larry Shalit for over thirty years, who predeceased her, and was stepmother to Larry's sons, Steve and Andy Shalit. Nancy was married to the late Sheldon Ross prior to that. She was a founding member of the Birmingham Temple and dedicated her life to humanist causes. As an independent editor and wordsmith, she took great pride in helping others publish their work. She will be remembered by her family and many friends whose lives she touched, including Julie Colish and her family, the Marko family, Rosanne Chester, Karen Mills, Daphne and Joel Feldman, Cary Levy, Phyllis Mutnick, Rafi Fridman, and Julius and Suzanne Giarmarco.
