Family Members:
Nancy Gail Levitt Rosenthal passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 after a fight with cancer since last fall. She was 69. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jonathan, and her two grown sons she adored, Geoffrey and Alex.

A service will be held on Monday, September 2 at Temple B’nai Israel at 4 PM, at 2710 Park Avenue Bridgeport, CT. Friends and colleagues will be received at their house at 64 Ferndale Drive, Easton, CT on Tuesday, September 3 from 4-8pm. Both are convenient to Exit 47 off the Merritt Parkway. Her final resting place will be Detroit (6 Mile Road at Middlebelt) with public graveside service at noon on September 9.

Born in Detroit to Brenda (Burton) and Monte Levitt, Nancy shared the house with older brothers Andrew and Stuart. There were many family gatherings that included her nieces Wendy, Aimee and Susie, their mothers Sandy and Marilyn, and her nephew Michael (Kelly). Nancy recently travelled with her family to Quebec City. Over the years they frequently visited friends and family in Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, North Dakota and Syracuse. The family took ski trips to Vermont and New Hampshire although she didn’t ski. The family saw a number of Broadway plays together. The family also travelled to the Western United States, Disneyland, England, France, Spain, Columbia, Peru, Morrocco, Jordan and Israel.

Nancy attended Henry Ford High School (with her friends Gail and Thea),Kalamazoo College (with Debbie, Sue, Wesley, and Gail) and completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. She received her Master in Public Health from U of M.

Nancy started her professional career at Market Opinion Research (MOR) and was actively involved in redistricting the states of Indiana and Connecticut after the 1980 census. Nancy was selected as a Cordis Fellow at Iowa Methodist Hospital, where, upon completion, she was hired. After getting married in 1989, she worked at Greenwich Hospital, where she was a Senior Vice president. Her affiliation continued with YNNHS for 27 years.

In recent years Nancy was an adjunct professor at the University of New Haven and consulted for Berry Dunn and her own company, the NLR Group, providing valuable insights into the evolving world of healthcare. Nancy made a number of valuable contributions to her profession and communities where she lived and worked. Nancy was a Regent with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), where she served to accredit college public health programs around the country, and served on a number of boards. She was president of CTAHE. She was a frequent room parent for her son’s classes. Among other charities, she volunteered for a number of community projects at B’nai Israel Synagogue.

Nancy spoke up on behalf of colleagues and improving standards. She actively mentored young professionals, especially women. Former colleagues have described her as “always prepared, diligent, best boss I ever had, savvy, smart, funny, brilliant, wonderful person. ”Those who knew Nancy would describe her as persistent, always thinking of others, warm, bright, steadfast, and funny. She was devoted to her family.
