Aligned with his love for his family, we ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) Research Fund (www.pscpartners.org) , which has impacted one of his grandchildren.  
Family Members:
Ira Konigsberg passed away peacefully at his home on June 17, 2024 at the age of 89. He leaves behind his partner of seventeen years Martha "Mickey" Price; and he is preceded in death by his second wife, Nancy Hillary Konigsberg; sister Rita Katcher and their parents Mary and Sidney King.

Ira's greatest love was spending time with his children: Anna Konigsberg, Peter (Sara) Konigsberg and Sasha (Isabel) Bagchi; Honorary children David (Shamean) Price and Raina Price; his grandchildren Jeffrey (Emily) Hegarty, Tre' Brown, Sam (Kendra) Konigsberg, Jane Konigsberg, and Eva Bagchi along with his great grandchildren Leon and Saoirse Hegarty. Ira also leaves behind brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.

Ira was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1952, earned his bachelor's degree from the City College of New York in 1956, his master's degree from Columbia University in 1957 and his PhD from Stanford University in 1961. These esteemed degrees in English Literature led him to Brandeis University where he taught from 1961 – 1968. It was at that time that he began his thirty-year career at the University of Michigan. Upon his retirement in 2000, he was named Professor Emeritus of English Language and Literature and Professor Emeritus of Film and Video Studies.

We mourn his death and will celebrate his life on Friday, June 21. Friends and Loved Ones are welcome to join Ira's graveside burial from 1:00 – 2:00 PM EST at Arborcrest Memorial Park, 2521 Glazier Way, Ann Arbor, MI, 48105. Although we will not sit shiva, the family invites you to their home from 3:00 – 7:00 PM EST at 3635 Eli Road, Ann Arbor, MI, 48104. Your memories and thoughts are encouraged during a Tribute Hour from 4:00 – 5:00 PM.
