Family Members:

She is survived by her children Layne (Tony Averbuch) Sakwa and Merrek (Lisa Baker) Sakwa. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Sheldon Sakwa. Loving daughter of the late Rose and late Nathan Malbin. Devoted sister of the late Alan Malbin. Adoring aunt of Brett (Jessica) Malbin. Dearest cousin of Douglas (Margo) Woll, Judy Greenberg, Stanley (Vicky) Cowen and Sheldon (Lisa) Cowen, Marc (Meryl) Sakwa, Neil (Linda Taubman) Sakwa, Sharlee (Mel) Hoberman. Also survived by many other loving family members, friends, and former students she mentored at the Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing Arts.
