Family Members:
William David Chaitman, 74, recently of Farmington Hills, died peacefully, at 8:30 am on July 21, 2022, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Bill was born on May 18, 1948. He was the son of Abe and Reva Chaitman, and brother to Bonnie, all deceased. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he lived in various Detroit Metro areas, then in Washington, DC, Denver, and several places in and around Los Angeles. Denver was to be near his beloved sister, Bonnie, her husband, John, and their children, Sara and Brandon, whom he adored. And Washington and LA were to be close to his cousin, Susie, and best friend, Carol. For the last several years, he lived in Farmington Hills. With Nico, his surviving cockatiel.

Bill successfully ran word processing departments for a number of law firms. He enjoyed the work and was highly regarded in his field. And when his charismatic, funny, chaotic mother was in her last years, Bill took complete responsibility and control of every aspect of her health care and living situation. And did it beautifully.

These things are absolutely a part of who he was and is, but Bill... Billy... Will... Uncle Bill... THAT guy was about music. And books. And food. And friends. Friends. The shared enjoyment of life on earth. That’s why these years, after he moved back to Michigan, may have been the happiest of Bill’s life. Rediscovering old, dear, lifelong friends like Stevie Magid and Cindy McNulty, spending more time with cousin Sandy August, and maybe most of all, developing an entire network of brand new friends – complete with Lunches, Dinners, the Theatre..! In this last phase of his life, Bill found something he had never really had before; a community of friends. Bill is survived by: nephew Brandon Goodell; cousins Susan Baronoff, David Ginsberg, Sandy August; Carol King; Nico.
