Dr. Marketa Zadorova, a resident of Rochester Hills, Michigan, died on September 24th, 2021 at the age of 98. Funeral services arranged by The Dorfman Chapel.
Marketa was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ondřej Zador, her beloved parents, and her siblings Ibolyka, Béla, Emil and Bözsike.
Marketa is survived by her children Drs. Helena (Richard) Balon of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Dr. Ivan (Sandra) Zador of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and her granddaughter Nicole Leah Zador of Brighton, Massachusetts.
Marketa was a Holocaust survivor.
Marketa worked at the Czechoslovak Cultural Center in Budapest, Hungary, and subsequently as the Deputy Head of the Department of Methodology at the Prague Municipal Library for over twenty years. She completed her education later in life, earning a PhD in library sciences from Charles University in Prague.
Marketa's most enjoyable pursuit, besides raising her children, was translating Czech literary prose into Hungarian, an activity she continued until the age of 92. She received multiple awards for her translations, the most noteworthy of which was The State Award from the President of Hungary. She also published a memoir of her wartime reminiscences titled Fragments of Memories.
