- It was with great sadness that we had to say good bye to Sue Weiss on Saturday the 8th of May,
2021.
Sue was a ray of sunshine to all who knew and loved her. Her smile and laugh would light up a
room. Her kindness was immeasurable.
A New York native, Sue was born in Manhattan and grew up in Forest Hills. She graduated from
Queens College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and went on to teach second grade
until she married the late Rabbi Richard A. Weiss D.D, M.S.W.
In May of 1971, Sue and Richard (Dick) welcomed their only child, Ruth Beatrice.
Sue was an avid book lover and worked for over 30 years in the book industry.
Although she had not lived in New York since 1979, Sue read the New York Times, in paper form,
every morning while enjoying her bagel and coffee.
She was a devoted mother to Ruth Beatrice Kroepke (Michael) and grandmother to Oliver Allen
Kroepke, who was the light of her life.
Sue is survived by her daughter Ruth, grandson Oliver, sister Janet Zeller, cousin Alice Glass
Gutman (Mark), niece, Leslie Schwarz Leff, Lisa Hollander Pohle (George), nephew Bill Hollander
(Marilyn), and dear friends, Christine Jamieson, Susan Pike, Toni Roth, Rosanne Steinbach and
Judy Zackiewicz.
