- Bernie was born in Toronto, Canada on July 3, 1931 and became a United States Citizen in 1953. He attended Roosevelt Military Academy where he achieved high marks, was popular and excelled in all sports. He always maintained his athletic grace, posture and high energy. After high school Bernie entered the United Stated Army, he then attended college and following he started his career in real estate. Bernie had a successful 61 years in the local and national real estate markets. He was proud of those highly productive years that would produce many positive outcomes.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Pamela Ackerman. Dear father of Tom (Wendy) Ackerman, Lori (Jimmy) Harter, Linda (Eugene) Puckett, Allison (Dave McCloskey) Bellemore and the late Jonathan Ackerman. Loving grandfather of Dan, Deborah, Carley, Alex and Tommylee. Devoted brother of the late Sydney Ackerman. Adoring uncle of Trayce (Randy) Fenton and Carol (Ron) Johansing. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
