- Jerry was an exceptional, welcoming, and loving man. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1987 and completed a Bachelor of Science in mathematics at the University of Michigan in 1992. On June 13th, 1993 he married his high school sweetheart Jennifer Lyn Bryant with whom he enjoyed 26 years of marriage. Together they had two daughters, Rachel and Rebecca. Jerry was an outstanding father to them; he absolutely cherished his daughters and wife as well as the time he spent with them.He was a research analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield/Blue Care Network, where he built many strong relationships both personal and professional. He was a member of The Birmingham Temple where he taught Sunday school and Hebrew and annually blew the shofar for the high holidays. A trumpet player since his childhood, Jerry was a lover of music and a past member of the University of Michigan marching band. He extended his love of music to his daughters by supporting their participation in band, orchestra, and marching band. He spent many years as a volunteer, sharing his unending dedication with the Farmington High School Music programs. Beloved by many neighbors, Jerry was highly involved in his community. He enjoyed sports, including attending University of Michigan football games, playing tennis, and staying active through neighborhood bike rides and walks. Jerry loved spending time with his family on the shores of Lake Huron in Forester, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Abraham and Ruth Grodsky, and Louis and Sylvia Katz. Although he was young, fit, and active Jerry passed away as a result of a massive heart attack, having experienced no symptoms or complications leading up to the event. His death shocks and saddens all who loved and knew him.Jerry passeddown a legacy of kindness and warmth that is pervasive throughout the community. In honor of this legacy, we ask those who knew him to practice the genuine kindness and sincerity Jerry always exhibited. His light, hope, and strength are in us, and in you.
Gerald was the beloved husband of Jennifer Grodsky. Dear father of Rachel Grodsky and Rebecca Grodsky. Loving son of Elliott and Anita Grodsky. Devoted brother of Larry (Lisa) Grodsky. Dearest son-in-law of Tom and Marsha Bryant. Brother-in-law of Kim (Dale) Richmond. Adoring uncle of Luca and Gabriella Grodsky, Elizabeth and Emily Richmond. Nephew of Terry (Lori) Katz and Marilyn (the late David) Schechter. Also survived by many other loving family members and a world of devoted friends.
