Family Members:
ESTELLE BLOOM, 76, daughter of Benjamin and Frieda Bloom, and sister of Marvin Bloom, passed away on Feb. 13, 2024, at her home in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Estelle grew up in Northwest Detroit, graduating from Mumford High School and Wayne State University with B.A., M.A., and Ed.D. degrees in education. She enjoyed her years as a teacher and was proud of her professional accomplishments, particularly earning her doctorate. “Dr. Bloom” ended her 32-year career in the Royal Oak Schools as principal of Oakland Elementary, moving west in retirement to her new home in Scottsdale.

Estelle, who loved people and made friends easily, could light up a room with her intellect, wit and joie de vivre. “Chechie,” as she was affectionately called, loved her family, living for those wonderful times they shared and treasuring the many friends she made throughout her lifetime from her childhood days in Detroit through retirement in Arizona. Her other loves included travel, cooking and animals, especially her beloved dog, Honey.

Estelle was a fun-loving person, whose kindness toward others and generous spirit became apparent at an early age when she would take money from her piggy bank to buy candy for friends at the matinee. Her interest in history and current events combined with her quick wit made her the wonderful conversationalist that she was. For much of her life, Estelle was faced with health challenges; but being the strong, independent person that she was, that never dimmed her light nor dampened her spirit.

Estelle, a loving aunt and loyal friend, upbeat and optimistic, full of life, fun and wisdom, will remain alive forever in the hearts of all who loved her.

She is survived by her cherished nieces, Alisa Chapple, husband, Kyle Chapple, and children, Benjamin, Jacob and Lauren; and Stacy Yashinsky, husband, Danny Yashinsky, and sons, Ari and Sammy, all of whom meant the world to her.
